One of the most powerful truths in education is that we cannot do this work alone. The success of our students is not solely the result of what happens in classrooms. In addition to the hard work of our leaders, educators, support staff, bus drivers, maintenance personnel, custodians and volunteers, the success of our students is shaped by an entire community of people who care deeply about children, and who work alongside us to contribute to and enhance the conditions for learning, belonging, and growth.
All of us can think back to a person who had a substantial impact on our own lives. This person wasn't necessarily a teacher or educator; instead, it may have been someone who saw 'something' in us and who had an impact on our trajectory. When we think about the moments that truly change the path for a student, they frequently involve a connection beyond the four walls of the school: a community coach who sees a spark of talent, a local business that funds a breakfast program, a volunteer who shows up week after week to read with a child, an Elder who shares language and story that anchor identity and belonging. These partnerships matter. They remind us that education is not just a system, but a shared commitment to ensuring that every child thrives.
The
BCPVPA Partnership Awards were created to honour these remarkable individuals and organizations — the ones who quietly and consistently make a difference in the lives of students. These awards are our way of saying:
We see you. We are grateful. What you do matters.
Research consistently shows that when schools work hand-in-hand with community partners, students experience better outcomes — academically, socially, and emotionally. They feel supported, they have access to richer opportunities, and they learn what it means to be part of something bigger.
As Principals and Vice-Principals, you know firsthand how essential these partners are to the work you do. This is why we are inviting Chapters to submit nominations for the 2025 BCPVPA Partnership Awards. Take a moment to think about the people or groups in your community who consistently go above and beyond to walk alongside your school, and consider recognizing their impact by nominating them.
The nomination deadline is October 8, 2025. Let’s celebrate the connections that lift our students and remind us that education, at its heart, is a collective effort. Because in honouring our partners, we honour the truth of what we can do together for the children and youth of this province.
