Foundations for New School Leaders – the next generation of Short Course I – is a week-long program for new Vice-Principals and Principals held the first week of July on the UBC campus. Developed in partnership with the UBC Faculty of Education, Foundations has been designed to help facilitate critical transitions, both from the classroom to school leadership, and from Vice-Principal to Principal, and provides a provincial context for educational leadership.

This highly-interactive program is based on the BCPVPA Leadership Standards for Principals and Vice-Principals in British Columbia, with an overarching theme of ‘equity’, and it aligns with current theory and practice.

Each day, the course focuses on one of the four domains of the Leadership Standards – Ethical Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Relational Leadership, and Organizational Leadership – through presentations, facilitated conversation, and shared examples from practicing Vice-Principals, Principals, and education sector partners.
