Children’s Healthcare Canada

Children’s Healthcare Canada will be hosting a pop-up event focused on climate change and kids. They invite healthcare professionals to join them as they explore the child health issues related to the environment and climate change and how the system can be better prepared to meet the unique needs of this vulnerable population. They will have three inspiring sessions with guest speakers Dr. Anna Gunz, Dr. Mary McCaskill and Catherine McKenna and the closing plenary session will be moderated by Catherine Clark.

BC Ministry of Education & Child Care News

School Critical Incident Support and Ministry Notifications: Recent events have brought safety planning and response to the forefront. Schools can contact Safer Schools Together to access 24/7 incident response and support, and are reminded to notify the Ministry as soon as possible for incidents involving media or that may result in a high profile police investigation at studentsafety@gov.bc.ca or 778-974-6388. There are also VTRA and DTA training offerings available this month for new staff or those seeking a refresher.

2022 International Assessments: The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is being administered between April 18 and May 27. Administrators are reminded that student participation rates are particularly important. For students to be counted as participating, they must complete all components of the assessment - Part 1 and Part 2 of the cognitive test as well as the student questionnaire.
