President’s Perspective – Equity in Leadership: The Road Ahead
When we have representation of leaders that accurately reflects the diversity of the population, this helps to create systems and policies that are inclusive; there is a greater chance that a broader representation in leadership better serves the needs of the community.

By participating in Foundations and becoming active within the BCPVPA, new leaders are welcomed into a supportive community of peers. This community is a space for sharing ideas, solving common challenges, and celebrating successes.

For some BCPVPA members, being part of a committee may be the first step towards a more deliberate engagement with the Association. For others, it can be a pathway to gaining a different perspective on a particular aspect of BC's public education sector.

While the core purpose of the ILC is to develop new and emerging system leaders, the experience extends far beyond that. ILC is an opportunity to grow connections with other new leaders, and build a network of colleagues across districts
