THE PRESIDENT’S PERSPECTIVE - Brian Leonard
January 12, 2024

Greetings Colleagues,

I hope that you had a very restful winter break, and a bright start to your new year.

January can be a busy time as students, staff, and families return to the routines of school, but all of your fall planning should smoothen that transition as you begin to look at the many milestones ahead for your school community.

From a BCPVPA lens, we will have a number of highlights for members in the coming weeks, including our annual IDEAS Forum in Vancouver on Friday February 9. This year’s IDEAS event will include dynamic speakers, and many opportunities for dialogue. To further enhance your PLD goals for 2024, we will also present a variety of webcasts and workshops beginning this month, and you can check out those selections under the Professional Learning tab on our website, and here in our weekly eNews.

While much of my time in the coming months will be spent attending meetings and conferences on behalf of the BCPVPA, I always prioritize the opportunity to visit Chapters and hear directly from our members. If you would like to arrange for me to visit your Chapter, please reach out to Sharon North. I am also happy to attend your local meetings via Zoom or Teams, if that is a better fit for your Chapter.

Finally, an important reminder to focus on your health and well-being as a leader as we begin this new year. The BCPVPA has a number of resources to support your professional well-being, including the ReSource feature here in eNews, and your personal well-being, including the ReFresh feature delivered to your mailbox on Wednesdays and here in eNews too. Our staff are available if you have any questions about your learning, employment relationship, or well-being – you can find their contacts on our website, and in the member portal My BCPVPA.

Welcome back, and have a great weekend,

Brian
