It was a real pleasure to meet with our Chapter Presidents and representatives last weekend in Richmond. If you were to ask the question, “what do you do when Game #6 of the Canucks playoff run intersects with Chapter Council?”, we would answer that we make it work! We were thrilled to be together in the ballroom to watch the second and third periods on the big screen, and the Canucks were thoughtful enough not to spill the action into overtime so that we could maintain our meeting agenda.
Thank you to our Chapter friends, to the Director candidates who shared their live speeches, and to our special guests from the Ministry of Education and Child Care, Deputy Minister Christina Zacharuk, Director, Workforce Development, Linda Beddouche; and Executive Director, Education Analytics Office, Jeremy Higgs. A Chapter Council summary will be issued soon.

From the bustle of Chapter Council, I am now on the road enjoying my final Chapter visits. Being with members in their communities has been a very special part of my presidency, and this week I spent time with members in Williams Lake (SD27), Prince George (SD57), and Quesnel (SD28), before I head to Prince Rupert (SD52) next week. I will share some stories and photos in an upcoming edition of eNews. If you have not yet had a BCPVPA President visit your Chapter, mark it on your calendars for the coming year! It’s a great opportunity to share the successes and challenges of your work, and the President can communicate your stories from the field to our government and sector partners
In closing, I would like to remind members that voting in the Board of Directors Election commences Thursday May 16, and concludes at 5pm (PT) Wednesday May 22. BCPVPA members will receive an email Thursday morning with their own unique ballot link; please do not forward your ballot to anyone else, as the ballot can only be used once. If you don’t receive a ballot, check your spam or junk folder as your district’s email filters may direct it there; if you need help, please contact Director of Communications,
Sandra Murphy. It is an exciting time, and we wish all of the candidates the best of luck in their campaigns!
